Work towards the ball, or ‘in line’ with the ball, when Defending.
‘Sliding’ is also referred to as ‘shuffling’ and means that we support making the field ‘compact’ and narrow when we do not have the ball (see image below). Our body shape should be open – allowing us to still see all opposition players. That way, if a pass is made which switches play, we are in a physical position to adjust and react to this quickly.
